Sutton View
Overview
Bobbing upon the River Deben near Woodbridge, Sutton View is not your typical Suffolk stay, mainly because it floats! This cleverly designed retreat sits right on the water, offering a wonderfully different take on Woodbridge accommodation and the perfect base for a romantic Suffolk riverside escape.
Step outside onto the private deck and… the river takes centre stage. Morning coffee, passing boats and the occasional moment of “are we gently drifting?” come as standard. With Woodbridge’s restaurants, pubs and independent shops just minutes away, Sutton View proves that sometimes the best holidays come with a little buoyancy.

Woodbridge is one of those towns that seems to encourage a slower pace. Mornings might begin with a stroll along the River Deben as boats gently bob on the tide, before stopping at Two Magpies Bakery for coffee and something freshly baked ,their pastries are reason enough to get out of bed.
The town itself is full of characterful independents, perfect for an unhurried browse. Vanil is a go-to for beautifully designed Scandinavian homewares, while New Street Market is a small but brilliant collection of fashion, plants and interiors. It’s the sort of place where you… pop in for a quick look and emerge wondering how you acquired another houseplant.
If you’re feeling active, Rendlesham Forest is just a short drive away and offers miles of cycling and walking trails through pine woodland and open heathland. Or simply follow the river path out of town and watch the sailing boats glide by,Woodbridge has a knack for turning simple walks into something rather lovely.
The Suffolk coast is also within easy reach. Aldeburgh is about twenty minutes away and perfect for a classic seaside outing, think fish and chips eaten on the shingle while the waves roll in. For something a little quieter, the wonderfully wild beach at Covehithe makes a beautiful spot for a coastal walk.
When evening arrives, Woodbridge has plenty of welcoming places to settle in. The Anchor is a favourite for a relaxed pint of local Adnams, best enjoyed while planning where tomorrow’s wander might take you.
