The Location
Orford, tucked away on the Suffolk coast, is an absolute hidden gem that’s perfect for a laid-back getaway. The village has frequently been named one of the most beautiful villages in the UK and will make you feel like you have stepped back in time, with winding streets, wisteria soak cottages, historic buildings, and a scenic riverside that’s perfect for a leisurely stroll.
The heart of Orford is its impressive castle, a towering Norman keep that's been around since the 12th century. It’s a fun place to explore, and the views from the top are simply stunning. Down by...
the quay, you’ll find fishing boats coming and going or if lucky enough to have a boat of your own, pack a picnic and head out onto the spit.
Nature lovers will adore Orford Ness, a wild and beautiful shingle spit just across the water. It’s a fantastic place for a walk, packed with wildlife and fascinating remnants of its secretive past – just remember to book your ferry ticket in advance!
In the village, you can pop into cute tea rooms, friendly pubs, a smokehouse and the renowned Pump Street Bakery. The locals are warm and welcoming, and there’s always something going on, from community events to lively festivals.
