The Location
Welcome to Waldringfield! The pretty village is a happy jumble of charming cottages and riverside gardens. It’s the perfect spot to simply sit on a bench with a cool drink, watch the dinghies zip across the river, and let the big, beautiful Suffolk sky work its magic.
The best way to explore is to pull on your walking shoes and follow the stunning river path. A stroll north will take you through reedbeds towards Woodbridge, while the path south offers wilder, sweeping views of the estuary, where wading birds like avocets and oystercatchers potter in the shallows. From the... riverbank, you can gaze across the water for a view of the ancient Anglo-Saxon burial mounds at Sutton Hoo. For those wanting to get on the water, it's an idyllic place to launch your own kayak or paddleboard and experience the scenery from a whole new angle.
When you've worked up an appetite, the legendary Maybush Inn is waiting. Perched right on the river, its terrace offers one of the best pub views in the country, perfect for enjoying a pint and their famous fish and chips as the sun sets. Whether you’re stopping for a day or staying for a weekend, Waldringfield has a knack for capturing your heart and sending you home feeling wonderfully refreshed.
