Exploring the Peninsula on foot or by bike is a fantastic way to enjoy the wildlife and take in the stunning views.

Shotley is proud to be the first destination in Suffolk to earn the ‘Walkers are Welcome’ accreditation, ensuring that many pubs, restaurants, and accommodations are happy to welcome you – muddy boots, cycling shoes and all!

Take a stroll along the Stour and Orwell Walk, a perfect trail for ‘nature-lovers’ offering glimpses of wildlife, lush meadows, and breathtaking river views.

Birdwatchers will delight in the area’s marshes and mudflats, which host a variety of waterfowl and migratory birds, particularly in the winter months.

Suffolk is home to some of the best food spots around, and on the Shotley Peninsula you will be spoilt for choice.

At the Suffolk Food Hall, you can stock up on a wide selection of Suffolk delights while soaking in stunning views of the river from either the Cookhouse restaurant or the Food Hall café.

And as you travel further along the River Orwell, you will discover the charming hamlet of Pin Mill, where you’ll find the much-loved Butt and Oyster pub. It’s an ideal spot to relax, watch the boats pass by, whilst enjoying a locally brewed ale by the waters edge.
