Here is our pick of the best pumpkin patches in Suffolk for some serious Autumnal fun! Aka the perfect Half Term activity.

Like it or loathe it, Halloween is much celebrated in the UK nowadays. Even if fancy dress, face paints and trick or treating aren’t for you, wrapping up warm and going to a local pumpkin patch is a fun day out for the whole family. With eight children between the Curious Retreats’ team, we’ve got the inside scoop on where to go to PYO (pick your own) pumpkins, hot chocolate and all!

1. Woodbridge Pumpkin Patch

The new kid on the block, this opens on Saturday 30th September, and is brand-new. Run by James Foskett Farms, it is located on Woodbridge’s Sandy Lane and is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout October, along with the duration of Half Term. There will be a catering van on site for hot drinks and snacks with picnic benches and straw bales to sit on.  So even if pumpkins aren’t for you, you can fuel up on caffeine and watch on from the sidelines.

Address: Sandy Lane, Woodbridge IP12 4DJ.

2. Goslings Farm Shop

We love visiting Goslings in the summer for PYO fruit (you won’t believe the offering including strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, blueberries, blackcurrants and redcurrants!) but in the autumn the place transforms into a thrilling pumpkin patch. Grab a wheelbarrow and go in search of the largest you can pick up. There also smaller pumpkins for the children to carry. There is a Garden Café, small play area and farm shop full of treats to buy on your way out.

Address: High Road, Trimley St Martin, Felixstowe IP11 OSG

3. Southwold Maize Maze

They have been teasing their followers over the summer with pictures of their pumpkin patch progress with updates that the pumpkins are ‘growing nicely’. It opens from Friday 14th October 9.30am-4pm and is hosting a ‘ScareTacular’ event over Half Term, for those that dare! If you haven’t visited the Maize Maze before, there are mini and larger mazes to weave your way around, just follow the paths and clues to try and escape the maze. There is also an adventure play park and the most delicious café.

Address: Old Hall Farm, Halesworth Road, Southwold IP18 6SG

4. Wrentham Christmas Trees

Don’t be fooled by the name, as although they are renowned for their Christmas tree offering, they also offer pumpkin picking. And we are talking over a whopping 12,000 pumpkins to choose from in a variety of sizes and colours. And although you might not be ready to hear the ‘c’ word, there is a trail through the Christmas trees with fun games along the way, once you’ve picked your pumpkin. Previously known as Field Farm Christmas Trees, this family run business has been going for over two decades which as you know, we are big fans of supporting.

5. Friday Street Farm

Undoubtably the best cheese offering in Suffolk, if it wasn’t for the children, we’d recommend sacking off the pumpkins and go trick or treating in the cheese room instead! A whole room of cheese for goodness’ sake! Friday Street Farm have left us very curious with this one, as they haven’t yet revealed their timings for pumpkin picking. But rest assured it will be happening. Stay tuned on their website and Instagram for more information, and whatever you do, do not leave the farm without a visit to the cheese room.

This fabulous 3rd generation family farm is located five miles south of Bury St. Edmunds.  Always a popular place for families of all ages, visitors can not only get lost in the maize maze and take Instagram photos around hundreds of different sized pumpkins, there will also be the opportunity to bottle-feed little lambs as they have over 30 sheep due to give birth in the month of October. It really is a great, fun day out at Ruffins Farm offering a fantastic adventure for all the family.
