The Location
Dunwich, a coastal village steeped in history, lies nestled within the picturesque landscape of Suffolk. Once a thriving medieval port, much of Dunwich has succumbed to coastal erosion, with remnants of its past submerged beneath the North Sea. What remains is a serene hamlet exuding an eerie yet beautiful atmosphere.
The village itself boasts quaint, weathered cottages with thatched roofs, lining narrow, winding streets. Surrounding the village, undulating countryside and marshlands stretch out, offering breathtaking views and walking trails that wind through heathlands and nature reserves.
The coastline, though ravaged by erosion, still retains a rugged beauty. Dog-friendly,...
sandy beaches dotted with pebbles and remnants of ancient structures serve as reminders of the area's rich history. Visitors can explore the ruins of Greyfriars Monastery or discover more about Dunwich’s rich history at the Dunwich Museum. The village is also located in a Dark Sky area where your view of the night sky is unobstructed by light pollution or other unnatural light sources.
