We fell in love with Wisteria House in 2019 and bought it to be our family home. Since then, we have carried out extensive renovations, modernisations, internal restructurings and redecoration. We love cooking and entertaining and when we decided to move abroad for work, we thought it was only right for the house to continue to do what it does best.
We love that Curious Retreats come across as a fun, genuine and exciting company. They go the extra mile and seem genuinely passionate about creating the perfect family holiday. We like that they want to celebrate local produce, encourage local places to visit and recommend local chefs / therapists/ entertainers etc, which all feeds into looking after local business which we are both very passionate about.
Here are a few of our secrets we would like to share to make your stay even more memorable...
Pizza cheat - buy pizzas from the Fen Farm Dairy truck near Brome (Roy Humphries estate), they sell amazing frozen Pizzas there from BRICK.
Fen Farm Dairy in general (either the one near us in Brome or the main shop near Bungay, is a favourite spot, amazing croissants and cakes, delicious sourdough, frozen lux crumpets and incredible cheeses!
Bungay is a lovely little town with a fantastic deli, a great greengrocer, very good fishmonger and also a great butcher. If you’re into good and local produce it’s a perfect spot. Also great Indian boxes from Tiffin Box in Bungay.
We love walking near Syleham, a 5 min drive away. Park near Syleham House and take the footpath off the road across a meadow towards the river. Follow the river, take a picnic and go for a wild river swim. Its magical.
